After being shared on Facebook just a few hours ago, a series of photos of a cat with blood-soaked eyes and mouth, screaming in pain, has sparked outrage among netizens, especially animal lovers, over the cruel actions of those who inflicted this animal abuse on it. Further investigation revealed that this brutal act of animal abuse took place in Taichung City, Taiwan, about a week ago.
The poor cat was found lying on a street in Taichung on the afternoon of August 19th with its nose cut and bleeding profusely. Its eyes, soaked with blood, were unable to close.
The young man who discovered the abuse said that the owner of the poor cat was a group of foreign laborers. After mistreating it, they abandoned it outside the house. However, thanks to his help, the cat was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
Lin Liang, director of the city’s Animal Protection Center, stated that this was an exceptionally serious case of animal abuse. According to the Animal Protection Act, offenders could face up to one year in prison and fines ranging from 100,000 to 10 million New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 70 million to 7 billion Vietnamese Dong). Police are currently searching for the whereabouts and identities of the foreign workers involved. In addition to the penalties, these individuals will be deported from Taiwan.
