The story of a dog being abused by its owner, recently shared by Facebook user Thanh Toàn, has sparked outrage among many. Heartbroken by the dog’s pitiful situation, Toàn and a group of young people from the “Animals Need Your Protection” group stepped in to rescue the dog and bring it to safety.
According to the video and images shared by Thanh Toan, the dog was brutally beaten by its owner. A man living in the Rach Gia coastal area regularly tortured and abused the poor dog with a whip, chasing it around his house with a stick.
“In the Rach Gia reclaimed land area along the embankment, near the Vincom shopping center and Ton Duc Thang street, there’s a house that looks like an abandoned building right by the sea. There’s a small dog being abused by its owner. He beat it until it fainted, and even then he didn’t stop. He splashed water on it to revive it, then continued beating it. When asked to buy it, he said he wouldn’t sell it, just leave it there. Please help this poor dog, it’s so pitiful,” Thanh Toan’s plea for help has moved netizens to tears.

Witnessing this situation, Thanh Toan appealed to people on social media to find ways to help rescue the little dog. Immediately, Vu and his sister set off for Rach Gia to negotiate with the owner and get the dog free.
Mr. Thanh Toan shared with us that the incident was completely true. He expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who shared the story and helped rescue the dog from its previous owner.
“That clip was filmed by chance by a little girl passing by, who then sent it directly to me, and I shared it on Facebook. Vu’s group was very enthusiastic in rescuing the child. They traveled from Long Xuyen to Rach Gia to work with the local team, with Ms. Mai Khanh and Ms. Loan providing full support. The two sides agreed on a price of 1.3 million VND when the owner agreed to sell, and Ms. Loan paid that amount ,” Toan recounted.

Mr. Toan added that the dog has now been taken to Mr. Vu’s rescue station in Long Xuyen. It has a bruise on its eye and is awaiting examination.
Sharing his thoughts on rescuing dogs from their owners’ abuse, Toan said: “I love dogs very much. If there are any other unfortunate dogs like that, I will do my best to help. It may not be a large contribution, but it’s still a small part.”

Duong Hoang Vu, one of the people who helped rescue the dog, said he learned about the incident through his friend Thanh Toan and mobilized everyone in his group to help: “The 1.3 million VND was provided by Ms. Hong Loan to ransom the dog. She came with us and some friends from Rach Gia. At first, the owner said he wouldn’t sell it because it was his pet dog. However, after some persuasion, some friends in the Rach Gia area contributed 1 million VND, but he still didn’t agree. By noon, he finally accepted the ransom price of 1.3 million VND.”
Mr. Vu said the dog is currently being cared for at his shelter in Long Xuyen: ” The dog has some injuries. In addition, the whites of its eyes are bruised. I’m worried that it might have a head injury, spinal injury, or some other injuries that I’m not sure about, and it needs to be checked and cared for . “
