A poor puppy was found dragging itself along the street with both of its front legs amputated.

The severely injured dog was found in the Turkish city of Samsun and rescued by members of the local Animal Rights Association (HAYTAP).

It was immediately taken to a private veterinary clinic for emergency treatment. The veterinarians captured heartbreaking images of the dog looking pitiful and helpless.

When the person behind the camera touched the dog’s injured area, it reacted very strongly as a defensive reflex.

Veterinarian Mustafa Kanat said: “It appears the dog’s leg was amputated with a sharp instrument. The remaining bone is not in good condition and may not be suitable for a prosthetic leg.”

“I thought the puppy could move around in the walker with wheels and use its hind legs. But I’m really sorry, I have no words left to say.”

Police have launched an investigation but have yet to apprehend the person who cut off the poor dog’s leg.
