A starving little dog, barely clinging to life, still tried to wag its tail when it saw someone coming to rescue it. Its pleading eyes seemed to say, “Please save me, I still want to live.”
Even while slowly starving to death, the skinny dog, reduced to nothing but skin and bones, still tried to wag its tail when the rescue team arrived, touching the hearts of many people.
The dog was found on the streets of Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. When rescuers from the Animal Aid Unlimited organization discovered the little dog, it was barely alive. Emaciated and lying flat on the ground, it showed almost no signs of life. It appeared to have been abandoned and left without food for a very long time.
In such a condition, most would think the dog no longer had the strength to care about anything around it and could only lie there waiting to die. But when it noticed the rescue team approaching, perhaps sensing their genuine intention to help, the dog suddenly wagged its tail with joy, as if trying to show that it was still alive.
It seemed as though all of its remaining strength had been poured into that tiny wagging tail, calling out to humans for help. Though its face still looked exhausted and weak, its eyes shone with an incredible will to live.
The rescue team brought the dog to Animal Aid Unlimited’s veterinary clinic for treatment. After 14 days of dedicated medical care and attention, its condition improved significantly. The dog was no longer painfully thin, could walk again, and was eating much better.
This is a deeply moving story about the extraordinary will to survive of a poor little dog.
